Human Resources Director

Summary:
The Human Resources Director directs, manages, and evaluates the organizational programs regarding the recruitment, development, and retention of employees from both an operational and strategic perspective. The Director will work closely with the Vice President of Human Resources & Employee Leasing, the CEO, and all departmental executives and managers to oversee policies pertaining to staffing, compensation, benefits, and employee relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a link between management and employees by addressing questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems
- Analyzes and modifies compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Advises managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommends needed changes
- Performs difficult staffing duties, including addressing understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures
- Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, and employee relations
- Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations
- Administers compensation, benefits and performance management systems, and safety and recreation programs
- Provides current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits
- Prepares and follows budgets for personnel operations
- Maintains records and compiles statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates
- Conducts exit interviews to identify reasons for employee terminations
- Oversees the evaluation, classification and rating of occupations and job positions
- Prepares personnel forecast to project employment needs
- Studies legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends
- Allocates human resources, ensuring appropriate matches between personnel

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience managing a Human Resources Department
- HR Management for company with 500+ employees strongly desired
- PEO (Preferred Employer Organization) industry experience desired
- Willingness to travel (locally and nationally) up to 25%
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field from a four-year accredited institution required
- PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) designation preferred
Computer Skills:
Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access
Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing and data entry. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
